It was the last Cistercian monastery to be founded in Portugal. Integrated in the Douro nucleus of the monasteries and convents of the Cistercian Order, in the southern end of the Varosa valley, and located in the so-called "Terras do Demo", it maintains the spirit of silence and recollection of its foundation.

Located in the parish of Quintela in Sernancelhe, the original image of Nossa Senhora da Lapa stands out. The primitive chapel was built in 1498. The current church was built in the seventeenth century by the Jesuits, who greatly promoted pilgrimages.

18th century emblazoned house located next to a former Benedictine convent. It has a two-story facade with a balcony over the main door topped by the coat of arms and a ducal crown. Inside, the masonry ceiling with paintings stands out.

Military monument of great beauty, classified as a National Monument since 1910. It dominates the landscape from the top of its 930 meters, in the middle of the Serigo mountains. Built in the fourteenth century, its current construction is probably the result of fifteenth-century alterations to the original medieval castle.

An ancient Benedictine female convent consisting of a church, cloisters and a fenced farm. It is distinguished by traces of Mannerist, Baroque and Rococo religious architecture.

It is located in the parish of Salzedas, municipality of Tarouca. Belonging to the Cistercian Order and built during the 12th century, its space was donated by the wife of D. Egas Moniz. It underwent expansion works in the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries, namely at the level of the façade and cloisters.

Surrounded by an old Alphonsine fence topped by a powerful castle, the town of Trancoso is located on a vast plateau, at 884m altitude. Trancoso is surrounded by walls, the center is inside and the access is through several gates.

It is a building of Jewish origin that stands out for its lion of Judah carved in high-relief on the facade. The name "Black Cat" comes from the fact that inside it has a sculpture that reminds the animal, carved in the lintel of a door. It has the characteristics of a Jewish commercial dwelling. It is supposed to have been a synagogue.

Cellars founded more than 50 years ago in a property with over 30 hectares. The sparkling wines are produced from the noblest grape varieties such as Malvasia Fina, Gouveio Real, Cerceal, Chardonnay, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Pinot Noir. The lighter, more intense wines result from the Malvasia Fina, Cerceal, Gouveio Real, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca varietals. These cellars are carved in the rock, in blue granite, reaching a depth of 72 meters.

Dating from 1738, this is a Holy Mount, of Italian influence, affiliated to the Sanctuary of the Bom Jesus de Braga. It consists of a monumental staircase, of great panoramic effect, with converging and diverging flights, animated with decorative vases, statues and symbolic fountains.

This castle, built on top of an ancient Lusitanian fortress, was fortified by the Romans. From the primitive castle we can highlight the citadel, with the keep, the vaulted cistern and two gates, the Porta dos Fogos and the Porta do Sol, which define the wall structure of the old town. The cistern is located close to a section of wall. During the XVI and XVII centuries its tower served as the Town Hall. The Porta do Sol (Sun's Gate), with an 18th century window dating from 1642, stands out.

The Castle of Numão is located in the village of the same name, parish and municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa. Located on the eastern slope of the Serra da Lapa, currently included in the Archaeological Park of the Côa Valley, you can see from its walls the Castles of Ansiães, Castelo Melhor, Castelo Rodrigo, Ranhados and Penedono.

The tiles depict the grape harvests and the people of the Douro. They are a tribute to the Marquis of Pombal, responsible for the demarcation of the Douro Demarcated Region in 1756.

Located in the town of Marialva, the Castle of Marialva stands on a spur, 613m high, overlooking the broad valley that was the westernmost edge of Meseta Ibérica.

The classified area of the Alto Douro Wine Region encompasses 25 thousand hectares, which represents ten percent of the Douro Demarcated Region, which has been producing one of the best wines in the world for 250 years: Port wine.

Occupying a vast area to the east of the city, it was part of the Paço dos Bispos Estate, which had its greatest splendor in the 16th century. The forest is rich in plant species and trees (chestnut and oak trees) that must have accompanied all the history of Viseu in the last millennium. Today it has a stadium, with renovated stands, swimming pools, tennis courts, a multipurpose pavilion, several training fields, as well as a camping ground and a children's playground.

Located in the historic center of Viseu, the Grão Vasco Museum can be found in the former 16th century Bishops' Palace, next to the Cathedral of Viseu.

The Almeida Moreira House Museum can be found in the former residence of Captain Francisco António de Almeida Moreira. The filling consisting of a library and various pieces, paintings, furniture, porcelains and sculpture, were donated to the museum-library open to the public.

The center of most cities is Rossio, officially Praça da República. In Viseu, this was and is "City Hall". The first news we have of this civic, social and economic center dates back to the 16th century. Currently, it continues to be the heart of the city, the place par excellence where you can feel the pulse of the city of Viseu.

Situated in Viseu, the Cathedral is a harmonious whole, the result of successive interventions by different builders, who left the marks of their time in the church's structure.

The Igreja da Misericórdia is a temple in the city of Viseu, located in front of the Sé of Viseu. It has a rococo facade that dates back to the second half of the eighteenth century.

It is a fortress built on rammed earth, surrounded by a moat, located north of the city of Viseu. It is a National Monument since 1910.

You can ride the funicular, a non-polluting, free transport, connecting the riverside area of the city to the historic center.

The Côa Museum is a structure of the Côa Valley Archaeological Park. Inaugurated in July 2010, it stands overlooking the junction of the Côa and Douro rivers, perfectly integrated in a landscape of great natural beauty.

In the valleys of the Côa and Douro rivers we can find a large number of rock engravings from the Upper Paleolithic. These sites can be visited from the nuclei of Canada do Inferno (from Vila Nova de Foz Côa), Penascosa (from Castelo Melhor) and Ribeira dos Piscos (from Muxagata).

The São Leonardo da Galafura viewpoint is located between Peso da Régua and Pinhão, at the top of São Leonardo. Known for being one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Douro region, this place is of Miguel Torga's inspiration.

They are unique wines that are born from the unique combination of soil, climate and man's work. Of all the wines produced in the world's first Demarcated Region - whites, reds and brandies - Port Wine is undoubtedly the most remarkable and sublime.

In the Beira region and throughout the interior of Portugal, animal husbandry has always had a great weight in the economy of local populations. The cheeses and smoked sausages come from the breeding of pigs, cows and sheep and from the profit of their meat and milk.
